How to Select Translucent Panels for Hotel and Bar Projects
Selection guide, not a completed project case. Use it to compare material directions and prepare a useful lighting, sample, layout, and quotation brief without assuming an unverified specification.
Five Selection Decisions
Review the Surface as Part of a Lighting System
Material appearance changes with the light source, cavity, support, panel joints, surroundings, and distance from the viewer.
Lighting brief
State whether the feature is a wall, bar front, counter, ceiling element, light box, or display surface; include preferred brightness and color temperature.
Viewing distance
Record primary sight lines, expected distance, ambient light, daytime and evening conditions, and whether panel joints should be emphasized or reduced.
Mock-up
Test representative material with a comparable light source, cavity depth, support, and joint so the team can review color, diffusion, shadows, and visible light points.
Panel layout
Send illuminated dimensions, cuts, openings, edges, support locations, access route, pattern direction, and transitions to adjacent finishes.
Maintenance access
Coordinate removable areas, wiring, ventilation, heat, cleaning, replacement route, and local safety requirements with qualified project professionals.
Material Comparison
Compare by Project Need, Not by One Photo
Ask which translucent stone, FRP, PS, acrylic, or other reviewed panel direction may suit the desired effect. Confirm material identity, dimensions, surface, light response, installation system, documentation, and current availability for the actual project.
Send facts, estimates, and unknowns
Include project type, illuminated area, destination, quantity, target effect, drawings, reference images, lighting information, sample timing, packing, and schedule.
